Slowork Coffee & Matcha

The combination of specialty coffee, matcha, and Thai laksa on the same menu is unusual, but it works for the crowd here. A regulars' café that keeps people coming back with consistent quality.

What to order.

Good for.

Long mornings, working lunches, and the kind of visit that turns into two hours. Bring someone you actually want to talk to — the space rewards it.

I visited the place many times. The famous is cendol and thai laksa which authentic but the funny thing is the cendol size always not the same, when inquired the cafe owner for the reason, it gives me funny answer, so I will not returned. It is the matter of honesty and hospitality that matter to me for a dining experience but foods wise is above average.

★★★☆☆

Visited in May 2025 during a weekend dinner hour. The restaurant has a simple setup and isn't very spacious, but it offers outdoor seating as well. It wasn't crowded when we went on a Sunday evening, which made for a pleasant dining experience. We tried their signature Thai Laksa, which I found delicious. It had a generous amount of coconut milk (santan), giving it a rich, curry laksa-like taste. The portion was also quite generous. Another signature dish we tried was the Mee Jawa. The noodles came with a thick, sweet potato-tomato-based gravy. The portion was generous as well. It wasn't bad, but personally, I preferred the Thai Laksa over this. We also had their Super Cendol, which was unique. Instead of the usual rough shaved ice, this version had a bingsu-style fine ice texture that melted smoothly in the mouth. It came with red bean paste and jelly. The red bean wasn't overly sweet, which paired well with the cendol. While some might find it different from traditional cendol, I actually enjoyed the variation. The fine ice also didn't melt too quickly, which was a nice touch. Overall, this is a nice neighbourhood restaurant in Ara Damansara that's worth trying & the price for noodle is reasonable.

Nearby on the same walk.
